Advice for Horse Riders

The rural setting and peaceful nature make Quiet Lanes excellent places to exercise your horse.

As well as being able to enjoy the Suffolk scenery, it’s a safer place to ride than a main road, with fewer cars and an understanding that everyone who uses it will respect each other.

Ride on

Many Quiet Lanes link up with bridleways which lead off into the countryside, giving you a great opportunity to explore and find somewhere new to ride your horse.

Sharing the road

Be mindful that while a Quiet Lane will be less busy than a normal road, care and awareness still need to be exercised.

Be seen

Wear bright clothes so you are more visible to other road users.

A smile or a nod …

… goes a long way, so don’t forget to thank drivers and cyclists who have taken time to slow down to allow you to get to a safe place before they overtake.
